Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Please note:
It is your responsibility to explain drop-off/pick-up procedures and driveway/parking lot safety to others who transport your child to school.
There is a ONE-WAY flow of traffic around the far side of the flag pole field and around the back o the building.
Drop-off is between 7:00 and 8:30, but may be later depending on your scheduled time. Proceed with caution and follow the arrows past the far side of the flag pole field and around the back of the building until you come to your assigned entrance. Don't pass any vehicle that is dropping off children. If there is a car in front of you dropping off, please wait at a safe distance until the car has left, and then pull up to the door. Please wait for your turn to pull up to the door. Shut off your engine and ring the doorbell. A teacher will greet you at the door and accompany your child into the building. If for any reason you need to come into the building at drop-off, you must park your car in a designated parking space.
You are always welcome to come in for drop-off. Please park your car in a parking space if you wish to come in. The entire perimeter of the building is a fire lane, and no parking is allowed.
Pick-Up: Proceed with extreme caution as you enter the driveway and park in a designated parking space on the perimeter of the circle. Babies and other children who do not attend the school may not be left in the car under any circumstances or for any period of time, no matter how short. Please ring the doorbell to be admitted by a teacher. As you enter the building, your child will be waiting to greet you with a big, happy smile and a bear hug! When leaving, before opening the door, take your child’s hand. Hold your child(ren) by the hand at all times in the parking area. There is no running allowed in the parking area and children are not allowed on the playground without a teacher present. We strongly encourage you to come inside at pick-up time. It's a perfect time to chat with other parents and the teachers, see you child interacting with classmates, and gather up your child's belongings.
Door Pick-Up: If you have a sleeping baby, an ill sibling in the car or other extenuating circumstance, you may pick up your child at the classroom door. Many parents simply prefer the efficiency of door pick-up. For door pick-up, you must stay with your vehicle. We will bring your child and your child's belongings to you.
Weather and daylight permitting, there may be children on the playground for late afternoon recess. As you drive, be alert to the presence of pedestrians in the crosswalks! Proceed around the far side of the flag pole field and all the way around the back of the building to exit!
Late Pick-Up: Please call if you are going to be late picking up your child, so (s)he will not become anxious. Please drive carefully if you are running late. Pull into the driveway of the school as slowly and cautiously as if you were ten minutes early. Your child will be waiting for you, safe and happy. A late fee may be assessed at the discretion of the director. This would be equal to the extra time at your regular rate. We do not have punitive fees for lateness as our aim is to reduce everyday stresses.
Please note that there is NO PARKING in front of building entrance doors or in marked fire lanes as per Hampstead rescue services.
